The Studio

Kit Studio is an architectural rendering and design firm based in Seattle Washington. Founded by Kit Kollmeyer as a subsidiary of Kollmeyer Construction, Kit Studio has a commitment to design, the environment, and the client. Basically, we want to rock your socks off.

"After working in Switzerland and travelling abroad, I came back to Seattle frustrated by several aspects of the state of design in the pacific northwest, and the U.S. in general. With the exception of over-engineering, for the most part, we are still building the way that we did 100 years ago. This lack of progress is hurting our environment, both in the conservation sense and the built environment that we create for ourselves. I'd like to help do my part to change that."

Who Are We?

Kit Kollmeyer was raised in Lake Chelan Washington in a family of builders. He's spent most of his life working in the building industry, both for his father Mark, and for several builders in the Seattle area. He recieved his B.A. from the University of Washington Department of Architecture in Spring of 2008, and immediately went to work for the department in an architecture extension program in Switzerland. He had been involved in the pilot program for that program in 2007. After staying to work briefly for a firm in Basel, Kit decided to come back to Washington and ultimately start Kit Studio in November 2008.

Kit Studio is a subisdiary of Kollmeyer Construction, meaning that the two companies act together as a design-build firm. Kollmeyer Construction provides quality construction and consulting for light commercial, industrial, and residential projects. "We strongly believe in fine craftsmanship and cost effective production bringing you the best product for the money. We make affordable custom products that are an alternative to generic production. We share a love for natural building materials, and have innovative ideas with which we use to create the best products for your project."

Mark Kollmeyer has been a general contractor and designer in the construction industry for over 30 years. He has been designing and building custom homes, commercial buildings, cabinetry, and furniture since 1977. His expertise in the field of construction is priceless, as he knows every facet of the industry, yet is always aspiring to learn from buildings to advance the methods and materials of construction.

Ben Kollmeyer has also spent most of his life working in the construction industry, from working for Kollmeyer Construction to commercial remodel companies is the Seattle area. He is currently the office manager and a partner in Kollmeyer Construction.
